like say they give them to you at your house before you're going out to dinner.
should you take the time to put them in a vase right then and there, or like give them to your mom to do while you leave?
you don't want to be rude

I don't get flowers normally (don't have room for them & people know :)) but my mom loves them and gets them often. She usually puts them in a vase immediately so they have some water, then later after company leaves she takes off the plastic, & cuts off a small bit of the stem (that really helps keep them fresh longer; during transport the very bottom dried up a little, so if you want to make flowers last, take a sharp knife or a pair of flower clippers and take off the bottom inch or so, making a cut not straight but at an angle. Also take off any leaves that are very low on the stem, they'll rot in the water) By putting them in the water she keeps them fresh but by taking real care of them later she has time for her company too.

Put them in a vase with water right then and there, it will show that you appreciate them. Mom should not have to do it, you're a big girl now.

i might just take it along with me. LOL. if not i would take time to put it in a vase or in my room. it will indicate that the person who gave you the flowers mean something to you even if he/she is just a fren cuz u took the time to handle it. =)

Take your time to put it in the vase, it's your flower not for somebody else. Show your date that you appreciated it.

Definitely yourself with the one exception of if you were late for a reservation-you don't want to make the owner wait with an empty table.

Do it yourself, you want to show him that you adored the gift and want to take care of it yourself
