These kind of components have properties that vary significantly with, for example, the applied voltage, temperature or light.

Example:

1. A resistor's ohmic value that may change significantly when being applied with different voltages.

2. Value of charges stored in a capacitor may change when subjected to a different temperatures.

Remember the V=IR (Ohm's Law) graph? This is linear. For the non-linear electronics, the graph is no longer a straight line but a curve instead.

Linear circuits are best illustrated by a resister - the Resistance value is maintained regardless of current AC, DC or frequency. It is linear because a graph would simply be a straight line along the X axis regardless of the characteristics of the component used on the Y axis.

Non-linear circuits would include devices such as capacitors, coils and solid state devices. The capacitor circuit, for instance, is dependent on the current AC, DC and frequency. It is nonlinear because a lined graph would be a curve rising or falling on the X axis when the Y axis was represented by one or more of the above components.

Circuits with components that are nonlinear (transistors, diodes, thyristors) are usually nonlinear. Linear circuits contain linear components such as resistors, DC amplifiers, capacitors and inductors operating in their linear range, i.e. not in saturation.

Any circuit can be considered to be nonlinear if it is used outside of its range of operation. For example, an amplifier (such as an op amp) will be linear unless its inputs or outputs are overdriven, for example if the output hits a power supply rail and clips, while amplifying a signal - the circuit will then behave nonlinearly.

A linear op-amp can be made to deliberately operate in a nonlinear way if it is used as a comparator.

A nonlinear circuit can be made using linear circuit components, for example a multiplier using linear amplifier component blocks will take two signals and produce the product - this is a simple nonlinear operation.

I'd agree that Get Rich or Die Trying wasn't a classic. The timing was right for 50 cent, and his debut restored a lot of excitement that Hip Hop had been lacking. However, Get Rich didn't have the makings of a classic. It was a very superficial album that was puffed up by great production and Cameos, I don't believe that 50 CENT is capable of producing a classic.
