Numbing creams should never be used for piercings, plain and simple. No injected anesthetic should ever be used either. No reputable piercer should numb you in any fashion.
Pain is good and bad. Usually with piercings an abnormal amount of pain means something is wrong, if you are numb, you won't be able to feel if something is wrong. Also, numbing creams and injections will relax tissue causing an increased risk for poorly done piercings. If you don't think you can handle the pain, just get one nipple done, or consider something else for the time being.
In all honesty the piercing itself is not as bad as you think. Its the fact that for a few days to a month you have sore nipples is the worst part in my opinion. Some tattoo/piercing parlors even do tandem piercings which is that two piercers each do a nipple at the same time making the whole process quicker. Whatever you decide to do, go to a reputable and skilled piercer and be sure to take excellent care of your piercings since nipple piercings are the worst piercing to heal and tend to take the longest. Good luck.

I had mine done and men's are on average 9 times more sensitive than women's. I'd do nothing. It is over so quickly and the feeling afterword was rather erotic and was so foe a few days. I'm very glad I did it. Nothing I've had done has been all that painful. Those were the most, but it really was kinda like the John Mellencamp song. "Hurts so Good". I am not particularly iinto pain either, but it really is over very fast.
Just make sure you pick a very reputable piercer.
Good luck
I've never had any of my female friends say it affected lactation for them either.
Ignore those who have been critical or insulting. You asked a good question and deserve a decent answer. Hope this helps.

Nipple piercings are the MOST painful place to get pierced especially if you have sensitive nipples... even more painful than genital piercings. There really isn't much you can do to numb the pain I don't think. Maybe a little bit but it would be a token effort.

Mine are pierced. I love them, the way that they look, the way they feel (healed) is great. And don't worry, they normally do not interfere with breastfeeding, like some uneducated guessers claim. You'd have to take jewelty out, of course, but as long as you follow aftercare instruction and keep them clean and un-infected, you will be fine, just to note, since it was brought up. Yeah, it hurt a lot, but they're completely worth it. It is none of these other people's bodies or decision, so go for it if you want them! Research at http://www.bmezine.com to find details. Know the risks, procedure and details you need to know to get it done. Nipple piercings generally take a long time to heal, so be prepared for the responsibility, FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS, and if they are what you really want, go for them.
Some piercers provide special numbing solutions, Orajel isn't reccomended...An Aesthetic would do, make sure it is safe for piercings...The topical EMLA cream is very good.. (http://wiki.bmezine.com/index.php/EMLA) You can call around to see if anyone uses it, and with some luck you could find it, but I say just tough it out, it's not that bad. Just make sure that you find a reputable piercing in the same quality shop.

NO! there isnt anything to numb them. deal with the pain. an of course it will hurt! and will most liekly hurt more if you get them done! but they are known to caiuse an increase in sensitivity.. so they may just be itrritating to you alltogether.. although some people feel the same afterwards. others can loose feelings. but just bring a friend have them hold your hand while the procedure is going on. it will hurt.. i dont have them done.. i have been wanting mine done for a while too. mine arent sensitive.. and hopeing getign them done would increase the sensitivity. anyways. it will hurt. but pain shoudl not be the deciding factor in ANY piercing. the pain is on.y temporary and the piercing itself is done in liek a second! so dont sweat it so much!

You won't need to numb it...and whatever you do DON"T ice them because the ice can cause damage. Anyway nipple piercings don't hurt but they are sore and tender the first couple of weeks because of having to rotate the rings. The piercing itself just feels like some pressure and a little bit of heat. Really not that bad...

Tongue nostril - nonetheless good. Hips Ankle Neck - would be hidden via hair Auricle..i think of thats what that's called, it is the midsection of your ear. Tragus - that bit on your ear thats interior the like triangle. Scaffolding Nipples Genitals in case you google around you will locate something :) Why no longer get a tattoo?

I did it the worst possible way...with a safety pin and my ex did it when I was 13. We numbed it with ice first and I drank some whisky but it was still one of the most painful things I have ever done in my life. Not to mention how the rings kept getting caught on my bra and clothes. Good luck girl.

I have several piercings..I can say that nipples were by far the most painful piercing I've gotten yet. you cant numb the pain but they do it so fast it wont be an issue. ...The healing process , however...is a different story.
.....Have fun with that....
