just a few: car pool, use public transit or a bicycle, (rather than drive alone) eat less or no meat (it takes more energy to produce), shop for locally produced items (saves the fuel of importing it to you), and vote with your money (buy things that are made in an environmentally resposible way whenever you can).
the 3 R's are also very important in this regard. they are Reduce, Re-use, and Recycle. they are in that order for a reason. if you reduce what you use, that is the most effective way of reducing the footprint. if you Re-use, then that is better because you are still reducing demand and keeping something out of the garbage. Recycling is still better than throwing it out, but there is energy expended in the process of collecting it and making it into another product, so that isn't reducing your footprint as much. of course recycling is the only sensible option for much of the toxic waste we produce.

I am working on this right now. Writing a book on the subject. Here are just a few ideas:
Turn indoor heat down to 67 day and 63 at night
Drive a fuel efficient car, small like VW, Honda, Toyota
Save all glass, aluminum, plastic and recycle
Get rid of the LAWN, takes water and causes humidity
Dont patronize Gold Courses, they are biggest waste of water,
air polution from fertilizer, and cause green house effect
Wash clothes only with full loads, cold water, less soap
Fill dishwasher each time
Low flow toilets, low flow showerheads
Dont buy a new home, buy used homes to save the environment
Stop urban sprawl, keep in cities or close to cities
Use a bike when you can or walk
Get rid of indoor polution (carpets, pressed wood, toxic paint)
Dont waste water, never let a faucet run
Commute to work
Grow your own fruit and veggies
Dont eat meat, cows and other animals are the biggest problem
with the environment. They leave a huge footprint.
Bring canvas shopping bag to store, dont use their bags
Recycle paper and dont buy newspapers and magazines.
Get rid of junk mail, save paper
Stop Comsumer Spending, reuse. As Americans we shop to
much and factories have to make more. It is waste.
Buy used when you can, make trades with others
Cut down on what goes into Landfill, too much waste
Try to recycle everything possible first.
Teach environmental science in schools to our youth
Dont smoke (air polution)
These are just a few. There are so many things we can do all we have to do is want to change and teach others how to change.
Mother Earth and the human race is depending on these generations.

1. Stop going everywhere in cars. Walk, ride a bike, take mass transit, car pool. Have car tuned up and tires properly inflated for the times you must use it.
2. Turn back the furnace, put on a sweater, and open the drapes to let in the south sunlight.
3. Use compact fluorescent bulbs.
4. Eat food and use products that are made close to where you live.
5. Buy less of everything; buy used items or repair what you have.
6. Use energy efficient appliances.
7. Wash clothes in cold water.
8. Recycle everything possible.
9. Reduce the amount of mowed lawn by planting areas of native plants.
10. Insulate, weatherstrip, and otherwise make your home more energy efficient.

Lots of things. Try walking or riding your bike when you can instead of driving everywhere. Turn lights off when you are not in the room. Switch your lights from incandescent to fluorescent. Turn the water off while you are brushing your teeth. Google keywords like personal conservation.

Not drive, use organic means to heat your home and stove. Recycle religiously. Compost and make materials scream before throwing them in any landfill. Everything bought including packaging must be able to be used or recycled.

The simplest things that we can do...
Every day, turn off just one more light switch than you turn on
Make a conscious effort to consolidate your car trips. How often do we go to 'Target/WalMart one day and then the groccery store the next?

We could start by killing all the environmentalists. Did you know that Al Gore flies around in a private jet and drives a huge SUV? What a Hypocrite!
