The Church of Christ (also called the Church of Latter Day Saints and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints) was the original church organization formally organized by Joseph Smith, Jr. and five other men in upstate New York on April 6, 1830. The Latter Day Saint movement, or Mormonism, traces its origin to this event, which is seen as the restoration of the original Christian church of the 1st century. Many Latter Day Saint denominations consider themselves to be the sole legitimate continuation of this church, including The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Community of Christ, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Strangite), the Church of Jesus Christ (Bickertonite), the Church of Christ (Temple Lot) and the Church of Jesus Christ (Cutlerite).

Both of those statements are absolutely true.

The Bible states that Christ founded the Church.

"For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body." Ephesians 5: 23

"And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." Matthew 16: 18

It was on Peter's confession that Christ built his church, not Peter himself. Peter was NOT the first pope.

It is also the church mentioned in the Bible by name, and everything that is done in the Church of Christ is Bible based and Bible authorized, we add nothing to the church nor do we take anything away. Every other church can trace its existence and start back to a man, ie Luther, L.Ron Hubbard, etc. The Catholic church wasn't established until 500 years after Christ established his church. The Church of Christ is the 21st Century church that was established in the first Century by Christ himself.

"Salute one another with an holy kiss. The churches of Christ salute you." Romans 16: 16

Here is the Church mentioned in the First Century, before any denominations were formed.

And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch. Acts 11: 26

I have never been a member of the church of christ before but the ones here in Tennessee are like the Baptist Churches except they believe in speaking in tongues. During my many years in the Army I have known a lot of Chaplains and talking to the many different denominations the Church of Christ is listed under Protestant and must be run as all protestant chaplains rules of faith.

club in a church oftentimes is composed of signing right into a club enrollment e book of a few variety. it is sometimes an index card, from time to time an fairly e book. The question then will grow to be, once you're a member, are you able to ever grow to be a NON-member. In some church homes, you are able to not, a minimum of till you die. Your denomination will prefer to attraction to close what number contributors you've, and probably they are going to wish their names & addresses. It behooves you to keep such archives. It also resources a mailing record and a itemizing of persons you are able to ask for tithes.

The “church of Christ” is neither Catholic, nor Protestant. The church of Christ is not a denomination. The church of Christ identifies itself by name as a church that is trying to follow the “doctrine of Christ” (2 John 9). The “church of Christ” identifies itself by name as a church that belongs to Christ. The name points to the owner and builder. The name points to the one who purchased the church. (Matthew 16:18, Acts 20: 28)

In contrast to this the name of many denominations point to the name of a man, a particular practice, or the way they are organized. A member of a denomination identifies himself by name as one who submits to the authority of that denomination and tries to follow the doctrine (teaching) of that denomination. Why not just follow the doctrine and authority of Christ?

The church of the Bible is compared to a bride, with Christ being the groom. A bride honors the groom when she agrees to wear his name. But many churches today wear man made names.

Suppose, for example, Mr. Smith asks his girlfriend to marry him. She agrees, but says, “Our friend Mr. Jones is a good man, so when we get married, instead of being called Mrs. Smith, I want to be called Mrs. Jones.” Would Mr. Smith have a reason to question her loyalty to him? Would he feel honored? Why would a bride wear another man’s name? Why would a church want to wear a man-made name? The “church of Christ” wears a name found in scripture (Romans 16: 16).

The church of Christ wishes to restore the church to the teaching that was established and authorized by Christ and his apostles. We wish to have Biblical authority for everything we practice and teach. (Col. 3:17)

The Bible teaches that Jesus is the head of the church and the church is his body. (Eph. 1:22-23) The church of Christ recognizes this, and therefore there is no “headquarters” on earth. Each congregation is independent and goes directly to the Bible to learn what should be taught and how we should worship. We believe the Bible is sufficient and we need no other authority or creed books. (2 Timothy 3:16-17, 2 Peter 1:3) Christ has “all authority” and we wish to follow this authority by following the things He taught. (Matt 28:18-20) We don’t want to add any man-made doctrine. (If we follow the authority or teaching of men, then Christ does not have “all authority” in our spiritual lives.) If we teach as doctrine the commandments of men, this makes our worship vain! (Matthew 15:9)

Please do not confuse the church of Christ with the “United Church of Christ”, the “International Church of Christ”, the “Church of Christ Scientists”, or the “Church of Jesus Christ of Later-Day Saints (Mormons)”. These groups are not the same and they teach drastically different things!

If you wish to know more about those who simply want to be New Testament Christians (nothing more, nothing less, nothing else), I invite you to investigate the church of Christ by comparison to the Scriptures! I have included a few web sites below that you might wish to visit, or you can e-mail me with any additional questions.

The word of God is compred to a seed. A seed can only produce after its own kind. If you plant corn, and it grows, you will get corn. If you get something else, you know there must have been another type of seed.

If the word of God is planted in a good and honest heart, without adding any man-made doctrine, it can only produce Christians and the original church. If another type of church is produced, it has its roots from another type of seed. It has some authority other than God and his word.

It is the aim of the church of Christ to follow no other authority. Christ has "all authority" and the apostles were told to teach the things He had commanded. (Matt 28:18-20) It is the aim of the church of Christ to only plant the seed that is the Word of God.

Thank you for your good question and interest in the church.

No, I am a Satanist because of pompas people in the church who have chosen to ruin my life! The church will fall unless they repent:

"The Lord is angry with all nations; his wrath is upon all their armies. He will totally destroy them, he will give them over to slaughter. Their slain will be thrown out, their dead bodies will send up a stench; the mountains will be soaked with their blood...!!!"

The TRUE Church of CHRIST is NOT the Latter day Saint's Church. The Church of CHRIST follows the teachings of Christ and HIS Apostles from the New Testament writings. The Church is named so because that is one of the names given in the BIBLE. We have Non-denominational Churches and Denominational Churches. I am a member of a Non-denominational Church of Christ. We attempt to derrive everything that we do directly from the scripture. We do not believe that any changes in what is written in the scriptures is correct according to GOD's WILL. HIS SON came as a result of a virgin birth, fulfilled the Messianic Scrtiptures of the Old Testament, taught and preached in the Jewish Temples, performed miracles so that the Lord's People would recognize HIM, was brutally tortured and murdered on the Roman Cross, arose from the dead, was seen by hundreds of people, and was taken into heaven in the presence of others. HIS WORD is Sacred and should be more important than man's in deciding what to do in service to our FATHER in Heaven.

To become a real Christian, we are told that we must HEAR the WORD in John 6:45, Jesus said, “It is written in the prophets, And they shall all be taught by God. Therefore everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to Me.” We are also told so in Romans 10:17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. We are told the we must BELIEVE in Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. We are also told so in Mark 16:16, Jesus said “He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.” and in John 5:24 "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life. We are told that we must REPENT (or turn from sin) in Luke 13:3 I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish. Also in Acts 17:30 Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent. We are told to CONFESS CHRIST in Romans 10:9-10 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. We are also told in 1 Timothy 6:12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses. We are to be BAPTIZED according to Acts 2:38 Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” and Mark 16:16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. We are to CONTINUE to be FAITHFUL UNTIL DEATH according to Revelation 2:10c Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life. We also know that Paul wrote in Romans 14:12 each of us shall give account of himself to God. It is important that we not ignore what is written, change what is written, or add to what is written in the New Testament which is our Christian Guide. Have a great evening!
