Start doing 3-4 20-30 minute high intensity cardio sessions per week. Change your diet: get rid of most of the junk (at least stop eating it on a consistant basis) and eat a lot of protein. Exercise your abs every week, but no more than three times per week.
My last suggestion is to buy a body fat % caliper--the ones that cost no more than $15/20 that you can order online--and measure your progress each week. If you are disciplined in your weekly routine (combining cardio + weight lifting + dieting) you will see results every single week when you measure your body fat %, and this will keep you going.
Once you get down to anywhere from 7-10% body fat, you will start to see definition in your abs. I would aim for 7 or 8% as the pinnacle.
