I think Jesus was saying to be more concerned with the condition of you soul rather than your daily life. He will provide for your daily needs because you are worth more than the sparrows.

I think Jesus was saying that death nor someone who can kill your body is to be feared because we live on after death forever and our spirits can never die. God can kill your body and send you to hell so Jesus is saying you better do what he says. I think when he says fear he doesn't mean be afraid of him but he means show him the respect that is due him and obey him because he is God. In verse 6-7 he is saying that we are more important to God than the animals and he is concerned about even the little things about us like how much hairs are on our heads. No human has this kind of love but God does!

Luk 12:4 And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.
Luk 12:5 But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.
Luk 12:6 Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God?
Luk 12:7 But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.
Luk 12:4 - And I say unto you, my friends,.... Whom he dearly loved, and had taken into the greatest intimacy and familiarity; making known to them whatever he had heard from his Father; giving them the best instructions, the most faithful and friendly advice, and proper precautions; all which, and more, showed them to be his friends, and for whom he after laid down his life:
be not afraid of them that kill the body; though he would have them beware of the Pharisees, he would not have them be afraid of them; he would have them know them, and avoid their hypocrisy, and guard against it; but not fear them, or the worst they could do unto them, which was to kill the body; and that they had no need to be afraid of, since at death, their souls would be immediately happy, in the enjoyment and vision of God; and their bodies would sleep in Jesus, and be raised in the resurrection morn, and be united to their souls, and be both for ever blessed:

To be killed or martyred in the service of Christ is not a big deal he will give you your immortal body and you will be with him in heaven. To follow teachings that turn you from Christ can take you to Hell and no matter what in the end you will die from this world anyway.

I think that Jesus was telling his disciples that they should be more concerned with eternity than with what happens to them during their relatively short time here on earth and to remember that the Almighty Creator would be watching over them so they should stand strong in the face of trials.

In other words, do not fear man but rather fear and obey God.
And that God is not distant but is concerned about every aspect of your life and is not blind to anything.

God is control, but my desicions are not seperate from his control. He knows what I will do and what his ideal plan for me is, but still allows me to make my choices. He also cares drastically for me, he desires my desicions to be based on a desire to be close to him.
I could continue but i think you get the picture
