Don't dump her with the intention of getting back with her. Either stay with her or dump her for good. If you don't want to get her a valentine's day present, then you don't have to. I know how you feel, because I too have a very small income, so I don't have a whole lot of money to spend on things like v-day. You do not have to purchase a gift from her. You could write her a poem, a song, or make her a card. If she's expecting some extravagant & expensive gift, then you should dump her just for being such a materialistic, gold digging whore.

That's the lamest thing I've ever heard. Valentine's Day is a special day for us "broads" and if you dump her tonight, she won't wanna get back with you Thursday. If she does, she's very gullible and naive. You're so lame. You don't even deserve to have a girlfriend.

No. I would HATE my boyfriend if he ever did that to me. How cruel. This is what she's gonna be thinking: "I thought he loved me. If he did, he would want to spend Valentine's Day with me..." How can you do that? Do not take your friend's advice. Valentine's Day should be about love, not giving your girlfriend something. I wouldn't care if my boyfriend didn't get me anything, just his time with me. If you want to break her heart forever, then go ahead. If she's a complete idiot, then fine. It's just that if I was the girl, I would hate you for all eternity for dumping me because you couldn't come up with a good excuse to not get me anything for Valentine's Day.

What kind of stupid idea is that? That is low and cold. Do you want your gf to spend Valentines day alone. It's not a good feeling being, or feeling alone. You could just make her card or something. It's the thought that counts.

Unless she's stupid she will know what your doing. If your that cheap what do you do around the Holiday/Christmas Season break up with your girlfriend and avoid your family. YOUR CHEAP and if you love her get her something or if your broke be honest with her, but anyone can afford a card and write something nice and also buy her roses they like that kind of stuff. Also while your at it get new friends.

Dude that is lame. If you can't get her anything there is a shitload of stuff you can do for free. Take her to a museum, take her on a picnic, write her a poem, give her a massage, or better yet drop her off at my place I'll take care of her.
