Most states provide Medicaid for poor adults.
But be forwarned, if you own property, you would not qualify.

Are you over 65? If so, you would qualify for Medicare but your wife may qualify for Medicare if she is unable to work and found to be disabled.

The best thing to do is talk to your local welfare department. Also, hospitals have staff members, usually called discharge planners, who know all the ins and outs of insurance, medicare and medicaid. Might ask to talk to one.

You can qualify in most states if you don't have a lot of assets. So, you can have a home and a car but not much more. You may want to get a legal seperation, sounds terrible but most states will take everything you both have if you are married. As long as she resides in a different dwelling it will work. She won't have your assets to claim and may qualify. Good luck. Sorry about your wife. Prayers coming her way and yours.
