South Korea uses the South Korean Won (North Korea also names their money Won). The rates have been fluctuating between W930-W940 to-the-US$ for the past 45 days.
In tourist shops, you may use major credit cards (AMEX, Visa, M/Card, JCB and Diner's Club) for purchases. In some locations, such as It'aewon, Texas Street, and Songt'an, you may use Won, C/Cards, US Dollars and Yen.
In the major department stores, Lotte, Midopa, Galleria, you may use only Won and C/Cards (general rule, not absolute).

In South Korea they use the Won.
937.216 KRW=$1USD
I would not expect to use dollars very much. Credit cards I would.
This rate changes daily and when you go to a bank or currency exchange they would give you fewer won per dollar as that's how they stay in business. No one gets the rate posted in the newspapers.
