My son was hit while practicing football. Another kid took a cheap shot and ran head first into his left arm as he was getting up from the ground (full weight on both arms, took them out from underneth him) with the helmet. He broke both bones in the arm; radius at the wrist and ulnar just under the elbow. His arm was so crooked when I saw it I passed out. He also went into shock. After an emergency surgery, and two casts later he is fine physically. But I think the emotional injury was even worse...he is scared to death of playing football again. He wants to do it, but cannot get past that horrible incident. (I'd like to call it an accident, but the kid told my son what he was going to do before it happened.)

My 3 year old fell at day care and split his head open on a book case requiring 3 staples. I was separated from his father and he refused to answer the phone from the day care (and me) and they could not reach me at work since I was in a meeting. An hour later, they made contact with me and it took me another hour to get to the hospital because there were 3 accidents on the way. He sat in the ER with a hole in head for over 2 hours waiting for me while his knucklehead father was 15 minutes away and ignoring the phone. I now keep a cell phone with me at ALL times! Hopefully, that is the worst that will ever happen, but I doubt it. It was his first injury and scared me to death. Luckily, his twin has had nothing... :o)

My 20 month old stopped breathing and turned blue when she was four months old . At first she looked like she was moving her bowels but it was worse than that.... we rushed her to the Er which was about 5 minutes away . She ended up having 3 more seizures that day ( alot for a tiny baby) and has since been diagnosed with epilepsy. Also she had to be on an apnea monitor for about 6 months , 24-7 at first .She did have another grand -mal seizure when she was 1 but has been OK since ( knock on wood).

For about six months, my son had this runny nose and a chilblain that just wouldn't go away. I figured it was because he kept sticking his finger up his nose and we lived in a really dry area of the country so the runny nose was nothing abnormal. I took him to the doctor anyway, and he gave us antibiotics for him to take to clear up the sinus infection. When we went back in, he looked up my son's nose and saw something blue.
It took me, the doctor, and three corpsmen to hold him down so we could get the 1/4-inch cube of blue plastic out of his upper sinus. He'd had no other symptom other than the runny nose and some bad breath! I still have that piece of plastic in a test tube, lol. I'm keeping it to show to his future spouse as a warning.

My daughter when she was about 2 had been at my sister in laws swimming they went inside to warm up in the tub (it was a little too cold to play in the pool for too long) she went to jump out of the tub and fell back on the faucet, it was the old fashioned star shaped kind, she cut up into that bottom area. What made it worse is I was at work and my hubby just called and told me she'd gotten hurt and to meet him at the hospital. They ended up putting her in surgery, but not doing any stitches because they were afraid of infection.
My son thankfully hasn't gotten hurt, yet.

In kindergarden my son was playing on the inside wooden jungle gym and he was hanging upside down when he slipped and fell, hit his head on the corner and sliced his head open on top about 3in wide. The teacher said he walked over all blood and said I hit my head and I don't feel so good.He threw up and almost passed out. They rushed him to the E.R. where I met the ambulance. They glued his head together. The blood was everywhere. I almost passed out myself. Til this day (he's 13) kids say I remember you! your the 1 the ambulance came for!

We lived in a mountain town with pine trees. We had a fireplace but we rarely used it. We lived on 1/2 acre of land and we had many downed trees in the year and old firewood trunks. We rarely chopped firewood. But somehow my 13 year old decided while we were at work and his grandma was watching TV he was going to go out and chop some wood. He found the axe in the garage and took it out back.
We still dont know what got into him to do it. He had no training on chopping wood so he tried to do it with one hand swinging the axe freely againt the trunk. The axe missed on the second swing and went into his leg, the shin bone. It took him time to get it out but he made it to a phone to call us. My husband go the call and ran him to the Urgent care unit.
When he called me to meet them there he was in a panic and said Royce chopped his foot off. I about FAINTED dead away.
I somehow made it to the Emergency Room, but after searching all over he was not there. Where did this call come from?
I was in a panic myself but somehow managed to get to the Urgent Care facility. By then he was bandaged up and put on powerful meds since it went into the bone in his leg. He had a shot and meds for possible infection.
Boy, was I relieved when my son stood up as I came in and he still had two feet.
I wanted to kill my hubby later but I was too worn out.

not my child but my brother was playing golf out the back and my younger brother was standing behind him and my older bro swung the golf club back as hard as he could(he's very strong) and smashed my little brother(then, 7) in the face he's changed colour and blood started squirting out of all different parts of he's face then he dropped to the ground and my mum and brother thought he had died they had called the ambo earlier and he got rushed to hospital....now he has a tiny scar and thats it.When my sister was 3 she was running around with a plastic fork and she fell over and the fork went through the skin just below the bottem lip. When my brother was young my mum had a huge sauce pan full of hot oil on the stove and while she was on the toilet my brother came out of he's room and stood up on the bin to stir the chips for mum( she had no idea) and the bin fell so he grabed the boiling fat to stop himself from falling and pulled it on him self he was on the floor and the oil that was going from the stove down to the floor was only an inch away from the lit up element.he had only slight scaring on he's belly.when i was 5 i did the same thing with boiling hot chicken noodle soup.that covers all of us kids bar one i'll do her now lol.when my little sister was about 4 my mum was waving by to my uncle out the front and little kimberley tryed to do some laundry and back then mum had an old washing machine with two rollers that rolled the water out of the wet clothes and little sis put her hand in it while it was on (she turned it on) and it sucked her arm through and she couldnt get it out it was crushing her arm and it ripped the skin from underneath her armjust above her hand, she has a scar.kids hey! you turn your back for one second.......

when my oldest son was 18 months old he fell with a toothbrush in his hand and cut himself real bad under the eye. he needed stitches, but was otherwise ok. what made it real scary tho was the fact that just a couple months before that my nephew fell outside with a stick in his hand and put it through his eye into his skull. i never let any of my children run or play with anything long and/or pointy!
