I am interested to hear what is the scariest event that has happened to you when you were flying. For me, my flight hit a flock of geese on take off and the plane started shaking violently...we had to turn and make an emergency landing...when we landed there were blood and feathers all over the plane's wings...thank god they missed the engines!!!

A couple of years ago, we had just begun our approach after a long flight and there were thunderstorms in the area. We hit a downdraft and lost about 1000 feet. Sideways. I thought that was IT right then and there. I have been flying all my life and I have never ever been that frightened in my entire life. Even the flight attendants were wigged out.

Not scary for me, but still bothered me: There was a woman in front of me who had a 2-3 yr old brat that wouldn't stay in his seat and would stand on the armrest and look around. When the plane was landing, she still didn't buckle the brat in. He was standing in the seat and not on the armrest then thank goodness. I just knew he was going to take a tumble and hit his head, but the mom grabbed him just in time to hang on to him.

While it would have been "just desserts" for the kid to have taken a tumble, I still didn't want to see the kid get hurt and was pretty scared for him during that time.

Another time I was in an RJ (small regional jet) during a storm and it was pretty bumpy. I was in the back row which is the worst, and the woman across from me obviously didn't fly much. She ordered a COFFEE from the stewardess. It didn't take long before she had a hot lap of coffee all over her.

I was maybe 10 years old, I don't quite remember. I don't remember where we were coming from or where we were going either. All I can remember is hitting some terrible turbulence and the stewardesses were flying all over the place. One landed in my mom's lap, tried to get up, fell again. My mom was just, "Don't bother, just stay here," for a minute until the turbulence calmed down.

Landing in Atlanta Ga. in between the runways in the grass, and then taking off again to circle the airport for another attempt at landing. We were in a 727and it was very hard to let go of the seat as i left the plane. Whew

I was flying to Richmond, VA from NY in a small turbo prop. We hit bad weather and I experienced very heavy turbulance. I took Amtrak back.
