I eat three good meals a day and snacks and sweets and beer and while I am extremely conscious of my diet and I exercize a lot I am very skinny ( I'm naturally thin, but I got skinny from extreme dieting but now I eat normal again and have for 6+ months)

I don't understand why I see people eating so little and they are normal size or fat, like they'll have a salad with no dressing for lunch and I have a big sandwich and chips?? Or people who are working out at the gym who are bigger?

Why aren't these people as skinny as me? It makes me feel kinda guilty...

first of all, i am naturally very thin and i eat a LOT of chocolate, steak, carbs, etc.. and some of my friends eat much less but are much bigger than i. it is because of your higher metabolism and healthy foods. i have found if you eat a lot of healthyish/not bad foods than an average amount of ok.bad food you are thinner

Hi - ultimately it depends on a couple of issues really... the first is that logically you should use all the energy that you get from the food you're eating. People who eat an enormous amount of food and don't exercise would be a good example of how this theory breaks down.

The other is that some people's bodies don't process (metabolise) food as efficiently (including mine, grrrr) and this can cause a number of problems, one being overproduction of insulin, for example (unused insulin turns to fat). This is why some people can have a pretty healthy diet with regards to the amount they eat and exercise regularly, but still find it difficult to maintain a weight that makes them look thin.

Just feel lucky (o:

You could probably blame alot of it on parenting skills, what a child grows up eating. Or even genetics has alot to do with it, the rate of one's metabolism.

your metablism is faster than theres, meaning you burn more fat than they do/don't have to work as hard to burn calories due to more muscle mass or whatever than they do. I'm jealos of people like you... i wish i could eat whatever i wanted and be skinny. I eat healthy and sensible, but i'm not super skinny =[

because people are categorized into three different categories depending on their body shape, metabolism, how the body stores fat, etc.

It depends on family traits, what they eat, how often they eat, etc...metabolism also has a factor.
