I have no resources to ask or search. Is my last name, Norton, irish or what? if anyone can help I thank you

Uh.. the computer is a resource. So is www.cyndislist.com, that lists thousands and thousands of places online that offer records. Among those are many beginner's tutorials for research.
I have to assume that your father was a Norton, and sounds as if he is not living? His death certificate should include the date and place of his birth, and usually names of his parents (sometimes the parents age and place of birth). Social security death index is free, and includes almost all deaths in the US since about 1960.
You may be able to find out that Norton can be found in many English locations. So a nationality is really vague. To really learn where YOUR Norton is from, you need to trace your lineage back, step by step.
