hahaha. Once you get used to chopsticks, you find them easier to use than a fork and you'll start thinking forks and spoon are a stupid invention.

I wish I was there to show you how to use them...practice and your muscles in your hand get strong and it becomes so easy. I love chop sticks and have several pair I use daily when I'm cooking and fliping meat over...its easier and quicker than a spatular. It just takes practice but I can imagine your frustration right now.

I could show you but I can't really tell you how to do it...you'll just have to do what your doing and enjoy being frustrated for a little while. So sorry.

HEY! I just checked out that ehow.com. Its excellent. I wish I'd thought of that!!!

I'm a Chinese so it's no problem for me. Let me teach you a simple but yet incorrect way of using it. I'm not doing it the correct way anyway but as long as I get things done, it's fine withe me.

1. Hold them together
2. Use two of your fingers and hold the chopsticks so it creates a pivot
3. imagine an X. The middle where ther two chopsticks meet, thats where you're suppose to hold them.
4. Put them onyour middle finger, then use you index finger to push the one on top.
5. Remember, the lower one isn't supposed to move, just the upper one.

I understand that you are frustrated and angry...it takes a little practice to eat with chopsticks. But Honey, they are not stupid.
Since you can't leave your room, I am certain someone is at home to supervise you, yell at them to bring you a fork.

LOL. I bet your parents would let you grab a fork. PS - it's a great habit to get into using chopsticks when you're young...you'll need them at sushi places...

Here is another site that both graphically and with animation shows you how to use Hashi (Japanese for Chopsticks)

Guess you will have to learn to be smarter than the Chinese. Well, finish your homework, that might make you a little cleverer, then, you might just be able to grasp the technique.

This web site explains it better than I could. It probably won't do you much good though since it really takes practice to use them effectively.
