You really need someone to watch you when you are sleeping to see if you do, in fact, stop breathing. There are Sleep Clinics all over the country. If you have medical insurance it is usually covered. You go to a sleep clinic and stay overnight. You are watched and you will be monitored by pros.
I have it and I now find I am sleeping better now, therefore I am
really awake in the morning. I used to say I got up at 6 but woke up at 9 and it was mostly true because I was always so tired.
Snoring, loud snoring is usually a sign of sleep apnea.
Go see your doctor and explain. You will fill out a form that will
tell your doctor if you are a candidate for the sleep clinic.
Good Luck. Don't be alarmed, it doesn't hurt.

I sounds like sleep apnea. You don't have to be overweight to have apnea, and it is a condition that is treatable. Tell your folks you think you might have apnea, and have them listen to you while you're sleeping (or make a tape recording). Just for your general health, you should try to eat earlier, or eat a light supper and do some kind of activity before you go to sleep. You'll feel better, you'll avoid getting indigestion, and you'll be less likely to gain weight as you get older.

About 60% of the persons suffering from sleeping problems are overweight , so weight reduction, avoiding alcohol or sedatives before sleeping or mechanical devices which keep the windpipe open may be prescribed by doctors.More details and remedies at http://nosleep.in/sleepapnea.html

It might not be anything serious. Just to make sure, though, schedule an appointment with your doctor.
