You have to go through her papers and bank records looking for it. If you are the executor of the estate, you can write to United, including a copy of your court authorized documentation showing you're executor - and ask them to do a name search.

Besides that, there isn't any way to find out, if you're not executor.

Actually, if you have your grandmothers full name, address and date of birth, you may be able to contact the company to find out if she had insurance with them and who the beneficiary is, that's the person who would need to file the claim and they would be the only one who could find any other information about the policy. United still has officies in most major cities and the home office is in St Louis. Look them up in your local phone book or call 411.

Who is the executor of her estate? That would be the person to ask about any insurance policies your grandmother had. If you are the exeuctor then you will need to contact the lawyer who drafted her will if she had one. If she didn't then you are pretty much S.O.L. due to the privacy act laws and rules regarding HIPPA

Contact them. You will need a copy of her death certificate, her social security number, and papers stating that you are her next of kin or in charge of her estate. I hope you get what you need on this.
