Protestants are in about a hundred different Religions. There are only two Catholic religions I know of the greatest being Roman Catholic. Roman Catholic is the largest religion in the world.

I think it's about 50-50.
However Protestants are not a single movement. It has become a term defining those who claim to be christians but are neither Catholic nor Orthodox.
There is a large difference, for example, between Baptist, Pentecostal or Bretheren, on the one hand, and United church of canada, or Anglican, on the other.
Possibly as great as the difference between Protestant and Catholic. And yet all those groups I named are considered to be Protestant.

There are over ONE BILLION Catholics, making it the single largest Christian denomintaion in the world.
Remember, you cannot lump all the Protestants togehter, because they are not united under one belief system. There are methodists, presbyterians, baptists, non denominationalists, etc....over 30,000 differents protestant denominations....but there is only ONE Church founded by Jesus Christ when he walked this earth- that is the Catholic Church!

there are twice as many Catholics as Protestants. 2.1 billion Christians, about 1 billion of those are Catholic.

It's irrelevant the numbers, recall "And someone said to Him, "Lord, are there just a few who are being saved?" And He said to them, "Strive to enter through the narrow door; for many, I tell you, will seek to enter and will not be able. "Once the head of the house gets up and shuts the door, and you begin to stand outside and knock on the door, saying, 'Lord, open up to us!' then He will answer and say to you, 'I do not know where you are from.'…
So one's salvation can't possibly have anything to do with what denomination or demoniation they are in, word play intended. I once say a post that the RCC is the narrow way? Seriously? If there is so MANY of them, how can that be the narrow way?

there are more catholics,something like 1.1billion. the catholic church also has a higher rate of converts than does the protestant religions. hopefully these numbers continue to increase.
