If you do it yourself it will most likey turn orange. To get the look you want, go to a professional. They will first lighten your hair and then they will "tone" it down to get the color you want.
I have the exact same color hair that you have, dark brown/ almost black. A while ago I want to do something "new" with my hair, and my hair stylist wanted to put blonde streaks in the front, to frame my face. So....he lighten the area, and then re-dyed it a darker blonde. It looked really good!
Just remember..if you're a dark brown and you're trying to do lighter go to a professional!

sorry, the only way to go that much lighter is a double process (bleach + toner or bleach + tint+ highlights)
If you don't want it that light and your hair is a NATURAL level 2 very dark brown then the lightest you can hope for without bleaching is medium brown with very warm underlying highlight at that point you can always have highlights added but that would also entail bleach use
if your hair color is artificial then no amount of tint will lighten it
sorry, hair coloring is a science that has very strict rules in order to protect the hair and to guarantee results and I'm curious why you are not open to using a lightener if you want such a specific result? professional colorists know how to achieve this... I would not advise going to any hairstylist this is a delicate process that requires a specialist (trust me, not just anyone can do this)

Definately listen to Cecilia. If you attempt to lighten dark hair that many shades at home, you will end up with either orange hair or you will fry it. Go to a good salon...not a Hair Cuttery or something like that...call around and ask if any of the stylists have LOTS of experience in that type of dye job. Also, make sure that you can get ahold of some salon hair products to keep your hair soft and healthy. I've heard that Shimmer Lights (or something like that...at Sally's Beauty Supply) is good for bleached hair, but I don't know about that from personal use.

Well. I don't know if this helps at all. But the only way I think (and after watching other people try this) would be to dye ur hair a shade to a couple shades lighter than what you want since ur hair is so dark. I know someone whos hair is black. They tried to dye it light brown and it didn't change colors at all. So that's why I would suggest dying it lighter than what u want and it should turn out w/e u want. Or just experiment. lol. That's what I do.

Okay, start by dying it a color LIGHTER than you want it. For example, if you want Dark golden blode, try using Medium golden blode or Light Golden Blonde first. When you apply the dye, apply it heavily but EVENLY (otherwise, your hair will get too light at parts). Then after a few weeks, you can dye it again, but this time go one shade darker. I hope this helps!

that is going to pop out orange. Hair coloration can in basic terms elevate approximately 4 ranges larger then you organic. And the fewer than tones would be orangey. you may desire to bleach and tone. How approximately attempting alot of highlights, they may be chunky, or smaller ones which will supply an throughout lighter seem to hair, with out having to bleach out the whole head. you will prefer a consultant hairdresser for this. do no longer use something from walmart on your hair.

your hairs a level 1-3 dark brown to black, black being level 1 and you want to go up to a level 7 with a golden hue, you will have to use bleach,, hair color will only life 3 levels with good results, and that's the color we use in the salon, if you use a store bought kit they lift usally a level, your best bet is to go to a salon, the home lighting kits and color you buy in the store are not strong enough to lift your hair that high,,you would go to a brassy orange and stop,, go to a good shop, have it doubled processed with a trim,, good luck,

I agree the only way to achieve this color is to get it proffesionally done, because at home dying systems do not achieve this unless you buy special tints that they sell that are made specifically for dark or black hair..i believe you can find those at your regular Rite Aid or even your beauty shops..a good place to shop for hair dye and hair shannanigans is folica.com
