Parents divorced when I was 12 and the custodial parent was my mother. I have 8 brothers and sister. I am a college graduate. I did use drugs, alcohol and had minor behavior problems.
My parents had the same rules. I was not asked questions about either parent. Parents fought occasionally prior to the divorce. My mom occasionally talked negatively about my dad. No secrets were asked to be kept. Parents allowed the same type of things. I was not into sports or school functions. I did not feel pulled into adult problems. Non-regular, but visits took place. I did not feel forced to take sides. My mom blamed my Dad for financial problems. I did not feel like the mediator. We were raised Catholic.

No chrn, 12-13, mother, 2 siblings both younger, I have some post graduate studies, used drugs & alcohol as a teen
parents had same rules, never asked us about each other, never fought in front of us, never said anything bad about each other to us, never asked to kkep secrets, same rules again, mother attended functions - didnt live close to father, never felt adult issues. Had regular visits until late teens, no sides, no blame, didnt mediate, no religous upbringing.
