Washing your hair everyday is not a problem as long as you're washing and conditioning correctly with high-quality products. To understand this better, we need to know how shampoos and conditioners work and WHY they work. Hair shafts, under a microscope, look sort of like rose stems ... they have little scales (think of the thorns being the scales for a visual) that open up and get dirt and oil and other undesirable gunk in them. When you shampoo, the pH level of the shampoo opens the scales up more, grabs all that dirty, grimy, junk and holds it in suspension (think of chunks of fruit floating in Jello!). When you rinse, the water flushes the shampoo (with all the dirt and oils too) out of your hair and down the drain.
General rinseable conditioners go on your hair and, with their opposite pH level, cause the scales on your hair to close up, smoothing out each hair shaft (that's why your hair feels smoother and silky after conditioning). This is why you don't use conditioner without shampooing first and don't apply conditioner on top of shampooed hair until you've rinsed all the shampoo (it will seal all the dirt/oil into your hair shafts, causing a dirty, dull look). Leave-in conditioners go one step further. They coat each hair shaft and form a protective seal around it, keeping the scales down and preventing tangles from forming as easily.
So, as long as you're following "protocol" and using good products, wash away!

I think it dries your hair out, but where you run and get sweaty...I think washing every day is a good idea. However every other day, you could just wash your roots, the rest of the shampoo will flow down your hair and clean it. If you must use conditioner, try just every other day, or on just the ends.
If you just wet your hair, that may make it look greasier, b/c you aren't actually getting rid of the oils, just adding to them.

If you run daily, swim daily, crawl daily, do heavy labor daily, have a job in which you wear a hat daily, or just don't want your hair to be itchy (do you have dandruff, by chance?) then you should clean it daily, or at least every time you shower. I don't clean my hair every time, but every other time. Some times after I clean it, it's itchy for some reason. Not daily, but every time and almost daily. Wetting your hair will make a temporary difference, but it will eventually go back to being itchy and/or whatever color it is, when dirty. I only use shampoo, by the way. So unless your hair needs conditioner, too, don't use conditioner. Or use a shampoo which contains conditoner.

Well, I wash my hair every other day....but if you run every day then you probably sweat and it may be a good idea to wash daily.

I stopped shampooing my hair because it was drying out my scalp and hair too! I shower everyday, but rinse my hair with Herbal Essences conditioner every other day. After about a month I saw great results and I'm still doing it.

i dont think that it matters thatttt much but i have heard that if you put conditioner in everyday that it can get stuck in your hair and make it greasy.
wetting yout hair wont do much, but it will be hard to brush your hair out without any shampoo in it.
i suggest just shampooing somedays, and when you condition make sure you get it all out
