I have two years nursing home experience but I just quit my job and i'm looking to work in a hospital. I've applied to many but should I call and check on my application or do they not appreciate or like that very well? Thanks

I would not call in regards of checking on your application. Obviously when you apply you want to make sure you completely apply (application resume reference list). In general the best approach is either mailing your inquire, emailing (since so many business are online taking your application) or just waiting, which is the hardest. But don't sit and wait for them to call you keep looking. Also no matter what when you have an interview good or bad send a written thank you note, and even if you do get regected send an a reply back thanking them one more time. Many times I have seen people that do this get called for another avalible position because many people do not do this. It looks very professional.

If sending your application and resume via e-mail, I would not feel it was a problem calling simply to ask if the transmittal was successful. If dropping the application and resume off to the office, not necessary. If mailing via "snail-mail" I would call 4-5 days after (perhaps 5 business days if a larger company) to see if they have received it. I would not feel it would be looked on negatively if you followed up professionally to see if the information they requested for an applicant was received..

Best of Luck to you in your hunt!

;-)

Go back to the hospital and drop off a reference sheet of folks
you know and their phone numbers.
Ask them if they are considerin hiring you.
Dont wait around too long, check the newspaper, they always
have elderly wants nurses to sit with them and they pay better.
