You mean Joseph, right? I'm sure he was terribly, terribly hurt and confused. Thank God for the angel! And that he Believed the angel! (Good thing he was in that habit, too, or they wouldn't have escaped Herod's baby-killing spree!) To me, Joseph is one of the kindest, strongest, most admirable characters in the Bible.

The Essenes had a kind of betrothal where the couple lived together but were considered not yet ready to have a family. Officially, they were not supposed to have sex. But, life being what it is, they did anyway. And as it turned out, more than a few "virgin births" occurred in those days. The one about Jesus is believed to have developed from that. Unless, of course, you're really fundamentalist, in which case God schtupped Mary, and Joe was okay with it because they had the world's first open marriage or something.

Who is John?
Do you mean Joseph?
Joseph was considering breaking off the marriage, but an angel came to Joseph and told him to continue with the marriage.
He assured Joseph that Mary was still a virgin and the baby is from God.

you mean JOSEPH. Mary became pregnant after becoming "engaged" to Joseph. John was a disciple of Jesus. Plus, if you read the Bible, Joseph was depressed and scared about Mary being pregnant before marriage, but an angel came and told him that she was carrying the son of God.

Assuming you're talking about the virgin Mary & the conception of Jesus Christ, I think you mean Joseph. He did indeed want to "put her away" (sort of a divorce back in the day) until an angel visited him in a dream & confirmed to him that Mary was indeed carrying the Son of God.

You mean "Joseph". He did have serious questions about it. Read Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John and then come back on here and ask your question again, if you still need to.

Have you read the account? He was going to divorce her quietly. He loved her so much and yet she betrayed him (as he saw it) Yet he did not want to compound her shame. Joe was a stand up man and that is why God chose him to be his human stand in.
What stayed Joe's hand was a direct intervention by an Angel of God. Luckily he believed in his vision and obeyed God(another good reason God chose him).
