With the transcription I have, it may or may not be different to the studio version, you know how fickle transcribers can be with adding vocal melodies to the piano melody
Ok I'll skip over the intro before he starts singing, but basically what you have is a basic Eb chord, in left hand that Eb, Bb, Eb. while the right hand plays around with that chord (starting on G, you should be able to do the rest by ear)
The next chord is Cm. In left hand thats Eb, middle C, Eb. while right hand is just decending that tcm triad (G, Eb, C, G Eb)
Then you got an Eb mag7, left hand thats Eb, Bb, D. Right hand basically ***** around with arpeggios just like the first bar.
Ok thats the intro, now the verse: Chord symbols (its in 4/4 and chords are half notes) Eb, Abmaj7 / Bb(bass on D), Gm / Cm (bass on Bb) , Cm (bass on A) / Cm, Ab / Eb (bass on Bb), Bb / G (bass on B), CM / Eb, Fm7/ and the end of the verse the first time (... "we could both live") is Ab, Bb / Bbsus Bb /
Through out the left hand plays octaves of the root of each chord (unless otherwise stated)
And through out this Elton just messes arounf these chords mainly in arpeggios but with these chords it should be easy for you to transcribe by ear.
And thats the song. its pretty hard to tell you on any more detail whats actually going on without actually getting the sheet music
Anyway any more questions or if you want me to just cook up a chord chart/ lead sheet send me an e-mail
