Well, a minute or 2 to taxi down the runway once you're cleared to take off by air traffic control, then the wheels lift off, you'll hear the landing gear retract very quickly. A commercial airliner reaches 10,000 feet rather quickly, I'd say within 5 minutes of take off, and takes roughly 15 minutes to reach a cruising altitude, maybe a little longer depending on the plane and surrounding traffic.

Take-off.. as in leaving the ground... doesn't take that long. Depends on how many other planes need to use the runway. Actually hitting cruising altitude, which is when your seatbelt sign gets turned off and when you can get up, walk around, go to the washroom, etc; takes about 20 minutes from when you started.

It really depends on the aircraft type. The technical term is balanced field length which is a calculation pilots make prior to each flight and includes the weight of the aircraft, temperature, wind speed and center of gravity. Many large commercial jets takeoff between 5,000 and 6,000 feet of runway. Here is a link to some aircraft specifications including an average balanced field length: http://www.jets.com/private_jets.aspx
