A lot of Christians do not really understand repentance. As humans, we make mistakes. That is why the Atonement was necessary. But, the blood of Christ has no power to remove sin if the person does not repent. Let me explain true repentance.
First, one has to recognize the wrong doing. If you don't believe the action is wrong, how can you repent? This is where a lot of people trip-up. They don't recognize their wrong doing, or they rationalize about it. Sometimes, they just believe Heavenly Father is all forgiving no matter what.
Second, you pay restitution. If you hurt someone's feelings, you apologize for it and ask for their forgiveness. You steal something, you give it back and ask for their forgiveness. In other words, you try to undo what you did.
Third, you ask Heavenly Father forgiveness of your sin. You confess what you have done. Strength and guidance is requested.
Forth, you turn away from the sin. You try not to commit the same sin again. This does not mean you won't, but you are trying to improve. If you are sincere, if you read the scriptures and say your prayers, you will, with the Lord's strength, overcome your sinful nature. And, complete forgiveness is obtained.
There are two set of scripture verses I try to remember. I didn't bother to look them up, so these are not quotes. The first is you can tell a tree by the fruit it bears. A good tree bears good fruit and a bad tree bears bad fruit.
The second scripture verses talk about the Pharasee's claiming to heal the sick and do good things for people. And, Christ said, "I know you not."
You should be bearing good fruit and you have to have a good strong, maturing relationship with Jesus Christ. I wish you well. Try not to judge others and have more patience with everyone.

Not all that say Lord, Lord will enter the kingdom of heaven.
Some people do take the title of Christian too lightly.
We were discussing this today in bible study, here is a verse that is applicable:
2 Thessalonians1:11-12
To this end also we pray for you always that our God will count you worthy of your calling and fulfill every desire for goodness and the work of faith with power, so that the name of the Lord Jesus will be glorified in you and you in Him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
A Christian will not be perfect, but the fruit of the spirit should show in their lives to the extent that those around them can identify them as belonging to Christ.
Jesus said in John 13:34-35 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another.
By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.
This is something that is repeated over and over again in the bible.
Love you neighbor as yourself, treat others the way you want to be treated.
When Jesus was asked who is my neighbor, He gave the story of the good Samaritan.
I hope this answers your question.

That is what some people think but Christianity teaches that that attitude will still leave you in hell. What keeps you out of hell is trying not to sin and repenting for the ones you commit. Some people just dont see it that way.
I personally beleive that I should try not to do bad and I beleive in karma, so I try to stay on God's good side, if you will, since I dont go to Church.

No one can be forgiven if they are not "Born Again". They must die as to the sins common to mankind and become new spiritual creation's of God. Does that sound like a get ot of hell free card? Christians do have one problem 'we still live in our bodies of sin and death' therefore we still slide into sin. those of us that are regenerate 'hate it when that happens' but we are quick ti see our failing and turn to Christ in repentance. We have a wonderful Lord that is faithful and just to forgive us when we confess them to Him ... Jim

Unfortunately, you are right. Christianity is about living a life where Jesus is Lord (in control) of your life. Accepting Christ as your savior and then doing whatever you want is kind of like applying and getting accepted to a university but never attending. You have to go and learn and follow the teachings.

Because most of them don't know the Scripture where Jesus told us that not everyone who says to him Lord, Lord, will enter into the kingdom. Once saved always saved does not cut it...you have to follow the Bible's teachings.
