OK, I am reading this book and it says you should not contact him for 60 days.
I really do think I am going to fail, but I am going to give it a go becasue they say it will help clear my head and it sounds like a good idea. I am worried it will fill my head full of more rubbish, and it will hurt more.
Any advise? Has anyone done this?

The book is called It's called a Breakup becasue it's broken.
It says that 60 days without contact is a challenge, but is good for you to clear your head, it is ment to make it easier for you to decide whether you and him want to try again, and what your feelings for each other are.

delete his number from the phone
hide the phone
join chats on line and make new friends to talk to
dont mention him or talk about him
hybernate for 60 days

can you give some details or the summary of the important views that the book has stated why it is to some point advantageous not to call (after a brek-up) for 60 long lonely days..?
