"slave" or "servant" - same thing. It simply means "serving Jesus Christ". Of course, once you believe that Jesus is God (as I do, and Paul did), then slave is just as good a translation as servant. The emphasis is on the service though.

Read the Book of Romans, There are some good instructions there.

By the way, the slave is an analogy, but it does mean total dedication and submission to God and putting him first.

If Jesus wanted slaves he would have taken out our free will. You need to love the Lord your God with all your mind as well as your heart. That means thinking, reasoning, doing only what makes sense to you, and if it doesn't make sense, being free to say, "I don't think so," or at least, "Not right now. It doesn't feel right."

You cannot be a servant of Jesus Christ unless you first become a child of God through faith in Jesus Christ.
"He (Jesus) came to His own creation, yet His own people did not receive Him; but to as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God - children born not by natural descent, neither by the will of a man, nor yet by human impulse, but born of God."
(John 1:11-13)
Jesus Christ said "I tell you the truth, unless a man is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God."... "you must be born again." (John 3:3,7)

You must repent of your sins, receive the Holy Spirit and the gift of salvation for forgiveness of sins, calling upon God to save you in the name of Jesus Christ, believing He died for you, was buried and rose again from the dead. "For whoever shall call upon the Lord (Jesus) shall be saved." (Romans 10:13)
Only then after you have received the Spirit of Christ will you be able to obey God from the heart, and be one of His servants. Then you must continue in the obedience of faith to the teachings of the Word of God, the New Testament.
