It really depends on the relationship. In my case, I've experienced both. When I am away from my mom or my boyfriend for a while, it is definitely absence makes the heart grow fonder (in different contexts, of course). But there are some friends that I have back home that, if I don't see them for a while, I don't even think of them.

If true feelings are there then absence makes the heart grow fonder if the feeling are not true then out of sight out of mind.

Out of sight for me...but it depends on the person and situation. If I'm not really that into the girl, I don't care if she's not around.
