It might not have been heat stroke, possibly could have been a seizure. They are common in dogs, get him/her to the vet asap.

the water and shade is a must. Ice cubes in his water may help him feel more comfortable. Freeze some chicken broth in an ice cream bucket and set it out for him to lick on (my boys love it!) Be very aware of and warning signs... intense, rapid panting, wide eyes, salivating, staggering and weakness. Advanced heat stroke victims will collapse and become unconscious. The gums will appear pale and dry. If heat stroke is suspected and you can take the animal's temperature rectally, any temperature above 106 degrees is dangerous. The longer the temperature remains at or above 106 degrees the more serious the situation. ...If you suspect heat stroke Place your pet in a tub of cool running water or spray with a hose being sure the cool water contacts the skin and doesn't simply run off the coat. Thoroughly wet the belly and inside the legs. Run the cool water over the tongue and mouth. Take a rectal temperature if possible to know when to stop cooling. A safe temperature is about 103 degrees. A small dog will cool down much faster than a large dog. Once the temperature gets to 103 or 104 degrees do not cool the pet any further because the cooling effects will continue to bring the temperature down even further. Seek veterinary attention as soon as possible.... alcohol on the pads of the feet will also pull heat out of the body. If it is possible, you might consider boarding him at a kennel on really hot days since he cant tell you how hot he is. Hope this helps....

Why do you think your dog had a heat stroke. The house or the place where you had your dog had to be awful hot for that to happen. I think you should take your dog to the vet..something happen here. Wet some towels with cool water and lay them on your dog then make an appointment at your vets as soon as you can. It really bothers me that this dog would have a heat stroke inside of a house.

It is good you are taken your dog to the vet..Please let me know what happen to your dog. This being so strange it may help someone else to find out what happen to the dog. FYI to the person who said how do you know when your dog had a heat stroke. You don't have to be a vet to know when your dog had a heat stroke. The only thing that bother me here was the dog was in the house when this happen. The room had to be really hot with no air for this dog to have a heat stroke. I hope he is ok, let us know.

How do you know your dog had a heat stroke? Do you have medical training to be able to make that diagnosis? Not unless you are a veterinarian, only vets can diagnose animals. What if your dog had a seizure?

Take your dog to the vet! That is the only way you are going to get any answers at all!! If it was not a heat stroke, and you give it a cold bath, you could do more harm than good.

Take her to the vet as soon as possible.

The part of her brain which regulates her tempature (forget what it's called) might be malfunctioning or something else might be going on. If she was in a cool area, with acess to water, she should have tests done. Because then it wasn't for normalt reasons.
