Hm... I'm currently in the same situation as you, so here's some tips that're working for me currently.

- Wash your hair once a day
- When you have the time, dip your head in the sink and do an extra shampooing
- Use detergent, either dish(soap) or laundry. Laundry is harder on your hair, so I suggest only using it once in a while. Dish soap is softer, but still, not everyday.

As far as I've learned, that's really the only and best ways to do it. Stripping your hair in a salon for outrageous prices, for only a 50% chance of not breaking your hair apart just isn't worth it.

First of all, was it permanent color, that you used? If so, you may have some trouble. Secondly, what is your natural haircolor? If your black dye job took your hair more than 2 levels darker than your natural ( nat. black is a level 1, lightest blonde is a 10-12) then I would recommend that you do not attempt to fix this, yourself. First off, if you are worried about drying your hair out, that is really going to be the least of your troubles if you attempt to lighten your hair back. I would call a couple of salons and ask them how much they would charge you. Tell them what product you used. You can do alot of damage- you need a stylist to be able to determe the least damaging method. There are other factors to take into consideration, like your pigment, porosity, and elasticity. The thing about color removers, is that they strip the hair of the color you added, but they do not return the hair to the original color. They'll leave your hair a brassy orange; and then you have to match the natural haircolor as best as you can, and add highlights, to give the hair dimension. If you do attempt this in your bathroom, you most likely are going to end up with a much bigger problem, and alot more damaged hair, and you'll still have to pay someone to fix it, and it might not look as good as it could if you just go to a stylist from the get-go. Good luck!!( Ps. I am a licensed cosmetologist)

I dyed my hair black before. Mine was permanent dye. I tried dyeing over it and everything. Then i went to a beauty supply store and she told me to bleach it out. So that is what i did. Or like the other person said let it grow and cut a little off at a time if you do not want a big chop. I don't recommend at home bleaching but i really didn't;t know any better. Hope this helps

It seems like this is the answer to everyones coloring question:
go to a pro (don't be a "kitchen beautician") and have them LIFT your color if you are trying to go from dark to light. It will probably require more than one visit if it is a major color correction and it will probably be pricey. But well worth it. Your hair is your permanent accessory (sometimes), you can't change it as quickly as you can change your purse. You should feel good about yourself and your hair can make that a WHOLE lot easier.

you have 3 options:1.go to a hairstylist and get a reverse highlighter.2.you can let the color grow off or3.you can cut the color off.if its not permanent sooner or later it will wash out.be careful with hair color when you do it yourself.

That stinks. Don't go buy another color. that would come out really bad. Your best bet is to go to the salon and have them do it.
