My best friend told someone that I like him. All he said was I don't know....so does that mean I don't know if I like her or was that his way of dodging the question...because to me its a yes or no question.

Dodging the question. He doesn't know if you really like him and he's not sure if he likes you back. Thus, saying I don't know effectively means *he doesn't know.*

He may have been put on the spot and did not know what to say. Or maybe he did not want to talk with a third person.

It's not a definite yes so move on.
Maybe he doesn't know you so he isn't sure what kind of person you are. Be yourself and give him a little time.

you are so smart. it is just that simple either you like me or you don't. if you are afraid that a relationship will ruin a friendship then that's something that can be discussed after you have established a mutual feeling. don't let them ignore your feelings.
