At one time I remember hearing something about hotdogs and brain cancer...like kids who ate hotdogs more than twice a week had much higher rates of brain cancer. It had something to do with all the nitrites and stuff they put in the hotdogs. I don't know what the thought is on that now...as this was probably 5 years ago. I never try to feed my kids too much hotdogs, bologna, etc. anyway. It just isn't that healthy in my opinion. I think moderation is very important for most food.
I found this:
"We've known for years that sodium nitrite consumption leads to leukemia in children and brain tumors in infants," explained Adams. "Now we have a large-scale study of nearly 200,000 people that provides solid evidence of the link between processed meats and pancreatic cancer." The ingredient also promotes colorectal cancer as it passes through the digestive tract.

Toddlers should not have the following foods because they are a choking hazard:
whole grapes
peanuts and other whole nuts
hard candy
popcorn
whole olives
raw fruits and vegetables (like apples, pears and carrots)
whole, firm beans or peas
raisins
hot dogs
cherries with pits
meat and meat bones
dried fruit
caramels
gummy bears and other gummy candies
stringy foods (like steak, celery and spaghetti noodles)
chicken skin, potato skin and fruit peels
potato or corn chips
granola bars
marshmallows
cheese chunks
But this list isn't the be-all, end-all of avoiding choking. You should also:
Make sure that all of your child's food is cut into very small pieces. Babies have been known to choke on even the softest food like white bread and peanut butter when it's big and chunky.

WHY would you WANT to feed a child hot dogs more than twice a week (WHY TWICE a week even?), If you really want to know why, read a can of dog food...that's pretty much what goes into an "all meat" hot dog...now WHY would you WANT to feed your child that more than once a week?

I have never heard that before. But mine doesn't really eat them that often anyways. If it is true it is probably because of what is in the hot dog. Wish I knew more to help you. As for that list my toddler eats practically all that stuff. She loves it all.

I always heard hot dogs are a choking danger, so they shouldn't have them at all. Tuna is high in mercury and so should be limited to 3 oz, maybe 2x/wk. (less for a toddler, i think.)
Another problem with hot dogs is they are preserved with nitrates, a stomach carcinogen. In addition, they are made with very low quality meats and pose a mad cow risk as they are often made with spinal tissue.

maximum advertisement warm canine comprise a tremendous variety of sodium and different elements, so that they don't look to be the healthiest nutrition for somewhat one. yet as an occassional manage, particular. Hotdogs are already cooked even as they arrive from the generating unit, so that they basically might want to be heated up. you are able to boil it, or grill it. and then, (needed for children), slice it the lengthy way and then decrease into small products. round slices of hotdog are a substantial choking danger.

I don't know about that. My daughter is a professional hot dog eater... Just make sure you cut them lengthwise instead of just in chunks so your kiddie doesn't choke on them.
