God knows all things, so do you think that when you are born God knows if you are going to go to heaven or hell.

yes, he does.
now you might ask, based on this, "if that's the case - that G-d knows if i am going to either heaven or hell - then i don't have free choice! everything is predetermined!?"
the answer, of course, is that G-d knows, but he doesnt decree. meaning, he knows and is aware of the decisions that we will make, but we have the decisions. G-d allows us to choose from good and bad, from right and wrong.
so yes, He knows what we will choose and where we will go, but He does not predetermine it.

The Bible says God DECIDES whether or not your are going to Heaven or Hell. See Romans 8 (maybe 9??), Psalm 16, Genesis 2 & 3, in fact the entire book of Romans actually.

I'm not sure omniscience means instant awareness of all that is. Could we tell a joke to God? Is there any reference in the bible where God asks a question? I think there is.

God is omniscient (all knowing) - He not only knows what will happen, He knows what COULD happen in any infinite number of variables. He knows what will happen if we turn right, or turn left, or go straight, or turn around...and an infinite amount of other possibilities. That's what omniscience means - all knowing.
NB: Foreknowledge does not mean "foreordained".

You have to believe to go to heaven, so if he knows your future, he should be able to indicate if your going to believe in him.

well he probly does the actions and what you do tell him if you are good and if you'll go to haven but if you're not a good christian you'll most likely go to hell.
