According to the SS Death index, a Domingo Alves died in May, 1978 in Waterbury.

The public library in Waterbury will try to do obituary look-ups for you with enough information. Their website with the information: http://www.bronsonlibrary.org/content/163/522/default.aspx

There are online obits but none back that far. Good luck.

I would start an RootsWeb.com. Its a free genealogy website that has links to other sites as well.

If you know the date/place of death and burial, you can call the local newspapers to see if they have the obit available online as well.
