sort of boyfriend (definition): A guy i have previously gone out with before. we lasted a year. then tried different people. missed eachother. and are now back together again. we are kinda going out? i dont know. im young and dumb...
but anyways i asked him leaving balloons by his door and a note and everything asking him and i rang the doorbell and ran away. it was pretty fun. but yeah, how long should it take before he calls me with his answer? are guys awkward with that kind of stuff?

Wait for him to call you. It might be awkward for you and him if you call him first. Let him make the decision to follow through.
If he doesn't, I'm sure he'll think of something else, especially
if he's interested.

Call him and ask if he got your balloons. Keep it light and friendly and don't get too caught up in the relationship side of it. Just tell him you wanted to do something fun and ask if he wants to hang out sometime. Of course guys are awkward with that kind of stuff. Especially if they like the girl heaps. Make it easy for him, call him and just have a chat, you don't have to call him and go "So what's your answer?" Ask if he got your balloons and leave it at that, talk to him for a bit then ask him out but do it casually, so theres no pressure.

I dont know what you asked him, but guys do not take long. If he likes you he will call asap, granted he answered the door. If it takes him longer then that is a sign that he is not sure what to do. Obviously not a good sign.

first of all in my understanding. girls should not ask guys out.
and if the guy really wanted to be with you he would have called right away.
