I love helping others and especially children and I didnt know if anybody knows of a place you can make liek blankets, hats,... for children in homeless shelters and than donate/mail the items to them. If you have any website links,... that would help out alot!!

I always help children with cancer as in sending them money to St Jude Childrens Research Hospital, but I want to actually give them a item they can remember and keep with them. Thank you!!

Child Advocacy Team
209 W 7th Street

Other organizations include Project Linus and Newborns in Need. You can find them on the web. Also, try your local Department of Human Services, shelters (domestic violence and homeless shelters) and local hospitals.

The Child Advocacy Team collects and distributes blankets to children, local hospitals, and families in need. While most are neglected, abandoned and abused children (ages 0-19), others include families who have had everything lost in a fire and other children and families in need. We would love to accept any handmade items that you have. However, there are also agencies in your own area that would love to have your handmade items.

Also call the local hospital that provides state/co. supported medical services. They usually like to have blankets, bonnets and booties for new borns before they leave the hospital. Since you donate to St. Judes, you might check and see if they would like hats for the children who are bald from treatment. Some cancer centers also hand out handknit hats for people who have lost their hair from chemo. You are to be commended for your generosity in giving of your time, talent and the expense involved.

Find the number for St. Jude's and give them a call I am sure they would take them, also consider talking with your local police department and see if they could use them for children.
When we moved to Minnesota after hurricane Katrina destroyed our home one of the best things we all received were hand-made quilts from a local church. We still use them on our beds and just for comfort on a hard day.

Take them to the Women's Shelter near you,My daughter does all the time. You know when a woman decides to leave she usually has more than herself to worry about. When they leave, they leave everything. My daughter and I collect clothes and blankets just to give to them. The people at the Shelter give it out as needed. They take stuff like purses, shoes, coats, and toiletries for all of them.Just an idea, hope this helps....

Dependent upon your location, you can try either local shelters or contact your local police department and they can deliver them to battered women's shelters (those angels deserve a new start and nothing says a new beginning for kids and anonymous support for those women.)

You can also contact your local community hospitals to determine their requirements (you'd be surprised as to what can be sterilized these days *S*) ...

Happy hunting in your heartfelt search.

If you need more help, just gimme a holla and I will see what I can do.
