Also, the underside of her belly is nearly purple. We got this dog at the Humane Society more than a year ago, and they said that she was 3 years old (making her 4 now). She is lethargic as well. I live in Indianapolis, and it has been snowing heavily for 2 days, and there are no Vets offices open. My wife and I dearly love this dog. PLEASE HELP US!

sounds like it could be pneumonia. call the humane society and see if they give an emergency number. for a vet/ you could even see if the police dept have a number.... there should be an emergency vet center in your city... keep calling vets someone is bound to have an emergency number listed.... until then wrap in blanket warmed in clothes dryer and try and keep her hydrated. if she is having trouble breathing thumping her quickly and firmly several times a day on each side. if you have a humidifier available try a mist with a vicks vapor rub in the room with her.... if it is respiratory she will need antibiotics asap.

Find an emergency vet, RIGHT NOW!!! You live in a big city, for crying out loud!! It won't be that hard to find.

With this bad of a problem, you do not take it here. Most of us do not have a degree in vet. medicine.

The dog may have a bone or chew toy or something caught in her throat.

Carefully, see what you can find.

The purple may be indicative of a lack of oxygen.

You should seek help from a vet soon!

Good luck!
