First let me say that I am sorry for your lose. I like the idea of a butterfly and it does signify freedom and spiritual rebirth. From what I understand a tattoo on the foot can be kinda painful. I think that a butterfly would look good on one of your shoulder blades maybe? Go to www.tattooartists.org they have a butterfly gallery with hundreds of tattoos.

I hope this helps.

My mother pass away when I was 10 yrs old and the minute I became of age I got a tattoo of a ROSE with her name on the back of my neck! It just something that just inspired me to continue to draw and design things! If you truly want a tattoo put it where ever you want to! Butterflies is a symbol of freedom, a new beginning, and true love! Do it!

I've been told that getting a tat on your foot would really really hurt, try getting it on your lower leg on the back, or near the ankle.. . Or you could get it on your lower back, a friend of mine just got a tattoo of Tinkerbell on her lower back and it looks great.
and a butterfly sounds very beautiful.. very meaningful.

Very sorry to hear about your mom's Passing.

I have a small tatoo on the top of my foot and I can tell you that it'll hurt, so you may want to consider something small. I do love it though. My father died 10 years ago and I've been thinking of getting a tat for him, but I'm also trying to decide where to get it.

Good luck!

I have a memorial tattoo for my dad on my wrist but a butterfly could also go on your hip or back of your shoulder

Dont be scared to show your tattoo. I would put it in a place where I can see it maybe near your heart or even on the inside of your forearm. Have you considered getting your mums name or even her initials? Whatever you do please chose something you know you will always love the look of - even when you are old and wrinkly - Your mum would be proud.

I think tattoos are a great way to remember lost loved ones. But how about since your mom died of cancer getting your tatoo in the same place she had her cancer. I know that sounds kind of weird but like if she had breast cancer you could get it on your breast if she had ovarian cancer on your stomach if etc. Just an idea though

I would say the shoulder blade. Its like your wing and its higher up where butterfiles are flying. Just my opinion. Foot seems to low to me. Your mom is up high in heaven not down low.

dont get it on your foot, the friction of the socks and shoes makes it hard to keep it looking good for a long time. Try the back of your shoulder maybe.
