More than likely it is one of the preservatives, possibly xanthan gum, or carob, or one of the other gums. Start reading labels. There is a similarity in there somewhere. Another thought: What is she putting these items on? I'm sure she isn' eating either of them alone. Maybe it is a similarity in what she is putting them on? Cream cheese on a bagel, and mayo on a sandwich = wheat from the bread, or possibly another ingredient in bread. Start keeping a food diary on her. Remember, each time someone reacts they usually react a little stronger, and the next time could be a full anaphylactic reaction, so I would strongly discourage her from pushing the envelope. The best thing you can do is make an appt. with a board certified allergist, and keep a food diary until then. Good luck.
