Interesting. At our school, and almost any school I have ever seen in TKD, you must wear white uniforms. There are no black uniforms in the art, at least not that I've seen. I have seen red uniforms used for demonstration purposes only, but never black, even at competitions that is not something you see. Just look at Adidas Korean TKD uniforms.

Also it's really funny for someone to say Karate is better than TKD, when the two arts are actually basically sister martial arts. A black belt in TKD could easily get a black belt in Karate and vice versa. They both share similar kicks, with Tae-Kwon-Do probably emphasizing kicking even more strongly and having a few more difficult kicks, but in general similar, they both have forms (katas and poomses), and they are both more striking arts. From what I've seen, most TKD is more hardcore than most karate -- karate is generally light-contact sparring, or touch sparring, and TKD is always full contact sparring. That's Olympic style. I'm sure karate is great, too, but until it's an Olympic sport, I wouldn't go around claiming its greatness.

I'd wear the white to set off the black belt, especially if the white uniform has black trim on it.

but since I'm no fashion expert, that's just my opinion.

Back in the day, when you earned your Black Belt you were
then allowed to "mix" . I most often wore a black top and white
bottoms.
The black top seemed to help warm up the torso
a little faster and keep it warm.

Your school may have the same rule.

Tae Kwon Doe??? Or Tae Kwon McDojo?? If you can't decide what to wear, give up your "black belt".
