Composting and worm farming are excellent companions!

I personally have both a compost pile and a worm farm.
First of all, the castings the worms leave behind are great to add into the compost pile or as garden fertilizer. Also, the drainage from the farm is a great liquid fertilizer.

The worms will mate, and you will start to have an excess of worms. These worms can be dug up added to your compost pile or garden. (I am assuming you are a gardener by this question)

If you are really ambitious, you can start selling the worms, their castings, the liquid fertilizer and compost. If you do a quick eBay search for "worm castings" and "compost worms", you will see they go for a good price!
