It is called chinese new year and it is on Feb,18 this year. It is the year of the boar(pig). Mostly chinese people celebrate. You could celebrate for fun if your not. The holiday means the start of a new year in china and getting rid of bad spirits. Hope you have fun if you celebrate it!

Chinese New Year or Lunar New Year is celebrated by the ethnic Chinese in a traditional way all over the world. In 2007, the celebration begins on 18 February and this lasts for 15 days.
The reunion dinner usually on the eve , marks the start of the celebration where family members share their joy & love together. The colour red is prominent on ornaments and displays . New clothes are worn and red packets with money inside are given to loved ones, friends and acquaintances. The Chinese New Year Celebration is a time of goodwill, sharing and the promise of a good year to come.

It a new year for the chinese in chinese lunar calender. this year fall on feb 18th in our calender and this year is the year of the Pig.
China is one of the major country who celebrate this chinese new year. others country like hong kong, singapore, taiwan and malaysia also celebrate this occation.
