George W.Bush once stated,"He's the man that nearly killed my dad." He was referring to Saddam Hussein.

I know that the reason why we went into Iraq was to enforce the UN Resolutions against Saddam Hussein. We had an agreement with Saddam after we defeated him in the Gulf War that he would not develop WMD's. Part of that was the UN must have unfettered access to his potential facilities. He refused and thus the 17 unenforced resolutions.

After 9-11 it was clear that we could not allow him to get useable nukes. We had no choice. What should we have done wait until he had them?

You can hear Hillary Clinton make the same argument here below.

NOTE: There is a grossly misinformed person above me who stated that the rich do not pay taxes. The top 25% of earners pay 84% of federal income taxes and the top 1% pay more than a third.

We are following a plan for Middle Eastern domination set for by the Project for A New American Century.

Critics allege the controversial organization proposes military and economic space, cyberspace, and global domination by the United States, so as to establish and maintain US dominance in world affairs, what Theodore Roosevelt termed a Pax Americana. Some have argued the US-led invasion of Iraq in March of 2003 was the first step in furthering these plans.

PNAC was a major advocate for the United States' 2003 invasion of Iraq. The invasion formed a centerpiece of the group's neoconservative agenda. Complications with the invasion have contributed to PNAC's decline along with the decline of the larger neoconservative foreign policy movement. PNAC now only has one employee and is seen as nearly defunct.

Even back before Bush was elected, the PNAC people were writing articles about getting into Iraq and getting rid of Saddam. You can go to their own website and go to links about Iraq and proposed Iraq policy from 1999 on to see their thinking on this matter.

Stabilization of the area by creation of a western style democracy based on the assumption that we could create one if we put enough effort into the cause. It was wrong. Stabilization for the huge part of the worlds oil supply was instrumental for creation of peace in the world by allowing uninterrupted energy sources to be distributed. Aggressive dictators that showed a propensity to attack the neighbors could not be tolerated. Use of weapons of mass destruction against them (not the USA) would completely destabilize the world economy for YEARS. World wide depression would augment the cause of religious conservative moments worldwide but especially in the Muslim world. Iraq would disintegrate (as it is doing now into civil war) and Iran would become ascendant. This would be un-acceptable to the Sunni led powers of the Middle East. Proxy wars between Sunni backed organization like Fatah, and Ha-mas would wind up slugging it out with Shi'a organizations like Hezbollah, Mahdi Army etc. So we invaded and set it all in motion. The genie is out of the bottle.

the intel that the US had stated that Saddam had nukes. So would you rather sit at home and pray to God that we don't get blown to kingdom come, or go over there and haul something??
I Personally think that it was a security threat not only to the US but the world. The oil is just a little perk...

when we lost our military base in turkey we needed a new place to keep control in the region and who would protest taking a man outta power who tortures and kills hundreds of thousands possibly millions? He also refused weapons inspectors access to large parts of the country. the just didnt work out as easy as we had hoped when terrorist groups moved in from other countries. we do have a really nice airbase right next to iran.

i do believe that was the reason

the war did not just start up that fast. we have been in war for about thousands of years because they use to be very tribal. Just like Africa. and we need oil from there. that is a big place for oil.

so i think this was caused by this situation.

To get sadaam out, which is done, and to be honest, you should be asking Saudi Arabia that question !!!

They were guilty of 9/11, perhaps you should ask George Bush why he didnt go to war there ??

I think its mainly about the dollar, if you think about it Saddam says he will sell oil with the Euro and then the US attack them, now Iran has done the same thing and the media (controlled by government) starts to talk about how evil they are and all the sudden every redneck hates Iran

I think we are in War because Bush Wants to drill for oil there. They never had weapons of Mass Destruction-that was a lie! He is already drilling the last wildlife preserve in Wyoming. So i think he sent us to war to drill oil. Why else haven't we left yet?
