There I was sitting in mass surrounded by intricate statues, detailed paintings, tall columns under a tall ceiling in a well heated room when the well dressed priest said, "To all those less fortunate than ourselves, let us pray to the lord."
Whats wrong with this picture?

If the Catholic Church really wanted to make the world a better place, they would spend less on cathedrals and more on food for the hungry.

Personally, I strongly suspect your story is fabricated. A church with "intricate statues, detailed paintings, tall columns under a tall ceiling" is very likely an old church, and that, combined with the tall ceiling, makes it hard to heat. As for the "well dressed priest", how can you see underneath his liturgical vestments? X-ray specs?

You got it! but it's no different than sitting in a protestant church with all the extravigant trappings and no love or plan to heip those in need. Alot of our churches need to wake up and realize the real mission here on earth. We can't just talk the talk without walking the walk.

The church takes from those who can least afford it by shaming them into making donations and then buying all the fancy trappings of wealth. It's the whole point of being a church, to take from the poor and keep it.

Nothing. Why do you begrudge the Lord a nice house? Are you being like Judas?
