I want a cell phone. My mom says that I'm too young. I'm twelve. My mom says that I'm still a baby and that I should have fun being one while I can. My sister got one when she was 13. Every time I talk to her about it she gets angry with me.

Well, if you are a responsible pre teen and your mother knows this as a fact, suggest that you start off with a pre paid phone. That way she can monitor the minutes used. Then work your way up to a phone with a monthly plan after you have proven that you are not going to be the type that will run a montly bill sky high. This may take some time, but a pre-paid phone is better than no phone. Do some extra chores around the house to 'pay off ' your bill. Ask your mom to give you a chance. It worked for me. My eleven year old has a pre-paid and he is doing very well with it and he manages his time wisely also. It can be done.

Then stop talking to her about it. She's already said no and told you why she said no.

There was nothing I found more irritating when my children were growing up than a child who kept begging and whining for something after I had said no.

I did not say no immediately. I always thought about my answer and often talked to the child to learn more about whatever it was he/she wanted.

But once I said no, that was it. If he/she continued to nag, he/she was grounded.

Accept what your mother has said and get on with your life.
