Do cold viruses remain alive (if that is the word) longer in cold weather?

Is that why we get more colds in winter?

The viruses last longer because the bodies defenses are weakened in cold weather. The body needs to maintain 98.6 degrees in order to fight infection.

you get more colds in the winter because more people are confined to inside buildings more and pass the viruses more easily....
