I don't think hot coke would make for a good reaction. Although heat speeds up most chemical reactions, warming the coke might cause the gas inside the coke to evaporate, and so you lose the oomph of the reaction!

Diet coke and menthos. Just saw it (again) on Mythbusters 3 nights ago. They didn't say anything about the temperature of the soda; they used diet cola, though.
