There must be something on your PC slowing it down ... in my case it's noticably faster with Vista.
Have you installed any network relatated or communication software not compatable with Vista ?
Is all your hardware properly recognized by Vista ?
let me know,

Are you doing wireless, cable, dsl, or modem?
1. Poor network driver support for your network card. This is unlikely as most driver issues are an "all or nothing" scenario. I don't think it would be degraded performance.
2. Has it ever gone as fast as you would expect since you installed Vista? It may be a specific network setting that you had set in your old version of Windows and haven't set since you installed Vista. For example, you may need to set a strange duplex/speed setting on your network card. Every ISP I have ever seen requires you to have the duplex and speed set to "auto". But if you were playing around with the network settings and set the speed to "100" or something, that would cause issues.
To summarize that, if you have no idea what I am talking about with duplex and speed, that means you PROBABLY haven't change this setting in Windows. And since the default setting PROBABLY matches your ISP's setting you are in good shape.

The truth is that Vista takes up a great deal of RAM just to function. It's all out in the news.
So anyone wanting Vista to operate efficiently
will need to add RAM. The minimal recommendations are 1G RAM...
the more realistic Techies that have used Vista
are highly recommending 2G RAM...
Another option for those with gobs of hard drive free space available is to increase your virtual memory swap
(swaps ROM [ free hard drive space ] into
"virtual" RAM on demand.
