Does this mean anytime you visit, you can make a telephone call on their house phone without asking?

I say it means the hostess was just being polite and that in return, you should be polite and always ask if it would be ok if you made a call using their phone.

What do you think? Does it make a difference if the hostess was a friend or a relative?

Do you use the phone at someone elses place without asking first if its ok?

Always ask, or it may seem like you're taking advantage of her hospitality, even if you're not.

18 years? What were you doing in math class? Try more like 31 years! You might pull that crap on somebody else but not me! Anyway, I'm only speculating here but I would imagine that given the type of guy that might ask you out, he's probably in prison right now or at the very least under house arrest and burried under so many restraining orders that he can't leave the sidewalk around his yard without violating his parole or something. Sure, give him a call, good luck with that!

Even if they give you the OK the first few times when you are over always ask whenever you want to use their phone. And yes it doesn't make a differen't if you are at a relatives house or a friends house. You should always ask. Because they could be long distance and they shouldn't have to pay the long distance bill for you.

Don't ever assume that a persons kindness or patience can wear out in a hurry. If you know you have a phone call to make. do it before you go to their house, so you dont impose on them time and time again. It makes no difference who's phone it is, after a while the plain fact is you become annoying to them and may not get invited over so much anymore. Dont wear out your welcome, take care of your personal business on your own time.

If you need to use the phone at someone's house, friend or relative, always ask. Keep the call local, and keep it short. .

Avoid using your host's phone as far as possible. If you really need to use it, ask EVERY time. Make local calls only and make it short ie less than 10 seconds.

I will only use the phone if I'm at a relative's house. Other than that I will use my cell phone.

Always ask if you can use their phone. You are right, she was being friendly and open and it is okay to use her phone but you ask before doing so.

No, you always ask first whether family or friends. It's not your house and not your phone.

Until they say my house is your house, and even then, I would still ask - to be polite. Always ask....
